We have started the building of an extention onto our miner's cottage. We had son, sone in law and grandsons all up to help on Saturday the 28th. april. It worked just like a barn raising as all the walls are prefabricated. One minuted there was just the floor and the next all the walls were up. Since then we have been securingthe frames to each other and putting in the windows and doors. From just a flat floor to being able to see the size of the rooms and where things will fit ins such a short time was really exciting. We are so thankful for everyone who was able to help.
Bred some Pekin hens and roosters . Found a home for one rooster the other day . The hens are just starting to lay again , so will breed some more after winter.
Going on holiday to Tasmainia 2-5-06 with friends. Will bring back information and foto's to add later.

Cheese Whirls
CHEESE WHIRLS
These bite-sized nibbles are great for parties or a snack anytime. They can be eaten hot or cold. Some people call them Pinwheels. Amounts for ingredients can vary depending on how much of each you have.
Ingredients:
-
Puff pastry - One sheet makes about 2 dozen Cheese Whirls.
-
Eggs - Approx. two per three sheets of pastry
-
Chopped bacon or ham - Approx. two tablespoons per sheet
-
Grated tasty cheese - I use packaged shredded generic brand, about 2 tablespoons per sheet
-
Chopped onion or spring onion (or chives, depending on what you've got, just to give it a bit of flavour)
Set out your pastry sheets on a large, flat surface and allow to thaw. You decide how many you want, I can't make all your decisions for you!
Mix egg, bacon, cheese and onion together in a bowl until you get a good consistency. It doesn't want to be too runny. If it is, you can add more cheese or bacon.
Spread a few tablespoons of mixture over each sheet, covering them as evenly as possible.
Roll up each sheet like a swiss roll, peeling off the plastic sheet as you go.
Wrap the roll up in the plastic and place in the freezer for 30 - 60 minutes or until firm.
Remove from freezer and take off plastic. Slice into 2mm (1/8 inch) slices and place flat onto greased baking sheet.
Bake in moderate oven for 15 mins or until pale golden brown.
This is my first entry in my space.
