    Talking about Cheese Whirls

    Cheese Whirls
    CHEESE WHIRLS

These bite-sized nibbles are great for parties or a snack anytime.  They can be eaten hot or cold.  Some people call them Pinwheels. Amounts for ingredients can vary depending on how much of each you have.

    Ingredients:
    • Puff pastry - One sheet makes about 2 dozen Cheese Whirls.
    • Eggs - Approx. two per three sheets of pastry
    • Chopped bacon or ham - Approx. two tablespoons per sheet
    • Grated tasty cheese - I use packaged shredded generic brand, about 2 tablespoons per sheet
    • Chopped onion or spring onion (or chives, depending on what you've got, just to give it a bit of flavour)

Set out your pastry sheets on a large, flat surface and allow to thaw. You decide how many you want, I can't make all your decisions for you!

Mix egg, bacon, cheese and onion together in a bowl until you get a good consistency.  It doesn't want to be too runny.  If it is, you can add more cheese or bacon.

Spread a few tablespoons of mixture over each sheet, covering them as evenly as possible.

Roll up each sheet like a swiss roll, peeling off the plastic sheet as you go.

Wrap the roll up in the plastic and place in the freezer for 30 - 60 minutes or until firm.

Remove from freezer and take off plastic.  Slice into 2mm (1/8 inch) slices and place flat onto greased baking sheet.

Bake in moderate oven for 15 mins or until pale golden brown.
